23 years passed from the tragedy of 20 January. This event became not only the tragedy for the Azerbaijani people but also one of the most glorious chapters of history, the day of great changes in social and political thinking and the peak of the national liberation movement. Highly appreciating the sacrifice made by heroic sons of Azerbaijan, our people pay a tribute to martyrs of this tragedy on 20 January every year. Events that took place on 20 January were the expression of violence against our people and the spirit of national liberation. However the will of Azerbaijani people that bloody night opened a new glorious chapter of our history. We commemorate 20 January as the Day of National Mourning but remember with pride that terrible night. Crimes committed against Azerbaijani people on the night of 19/20 January 1990, innocent blood spilled and massacre carried out in the republic couldn’t break the will of our nation in its struggle for independence. That night the people of Azerbaijan demonstrated inflexible will, fidelity to the homeland and fortitude in the struggle for freedom. That particular fortitude and will helped our people to achieve their dream and long-awaited freedom.
As in previous years, Azerbaijanis all over the world remembered the tragic events of 20 January. Matanat A also joined the events organized in memory of the tragedy. The company’s management team and staff visited the monument erected in honour of martyrs of 20 January and paid tribute to them.
